Jacqueline Myers-Cho, a contemporary artist exploring figurative and textiles together.
My contemporary fiber art blends portraiture, abstraction, and storytelling in a collage style. Recurring themes are self reflection, searching for meaning, transformation, and transitions. The focal point images come from my original oil paintings, drawings, and photographs that have been printed on fabric. These images are combined with reclaimed fabrics of all kinds, text, hand stitching, machine stitching, crochet, and embroidery.
My background in the theater, costume design and as a painter allows me to create without boundaries. My work ranges from textile wall hangings, fiber vessels, textile mixed media sculpture, art dolls, wearable art, to installations.
I have received several awards and have been showing my work since the late 1980s. My artistic pursuit has taken me to many different places, one of which is the island of Maui. While there, I enjoyed the gallery scene being represented both in Lahaina and Kihei. My works has been collected by fine art collectors from many countries and regions: the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Australia, and Italy.
